What happened
Dai Nippon Printing said on April 16, 2026 that it started supplying samples of a new mono-material medical sterilization pouch. The company said the pouch is designed to improve sortability and recyclability in line with CEFLEX guidance.
Product details
DNP said the pouch is made from more than 90 wt% polyethylene-based materials and is compatible with EOG, gamma, and hydrogen peroxide gas sterilization. The company said its converting technology enabled peel-open performance and seal strength comparable to conventional medical sterilization packaging.
Why it matters
Medical packaging has moved more slowly on recyclability than consumer packaging. This launch shows that mono-material development is now reaching regulated packaging segments where sealing performance and clean opening are critical.
