What happened
Kruger said on May 11, 2026 that it will invest $333 million to enter the wipe nonwovens sector. The company said the new business will focus on sustainable materials for wipe applications.
Project scope
The project centers on a new production line in Trois-Rivieres, Quebec, next to Kruger's Wayagamack paper mill. Kruger said the line will be the first of its kind in Canada and is scheduled for commissioning in 2028.
Why it matters
The move shows pulp and paper groups still see growth in wipe substrates and adjacent hygiene materials. It also links nonwoven expansion to fiber-based and plastic-free positioning, which matters for buyers tracking sustainability claims in wipes.
