Palm to Convert King's Lynn PM 7 to Recycled Corrugated Case Material
PaperAge reported the Palm Group will convert paper machine 7 at its King's Lynn mill in the UK from newsprint to corrugated case material, with completion expected in the first quarter of 2027. After conversion, PM 7 will produce 700,000 tonnes per year of lightweight recycled corrugated paper from 60 g/m2 on a 10.6-meter-wide machine, up from the current 400,000-tonne newsprint capacity.
Why it matters for converters and machine buyers: Another newsprint-to-packaging conversion raises recycled containerboard supply in Europe, so box-plant feeders should expect more roll-grade options and plan finishing flexibility as basis weights and widths shift.
