AF&PA Reports July Packaging-Paper Shipments Up 1 Percent
The American Forest & Paper Association reported that U.S. packaging papers and specialty packaging shipments increased 1% year over year in July and were 5% higher for the first seven months. Unbleached packaging-paper operating rate reached 87.5%, while inventories remained below the year-ago level.
Why it matters for converters and machine buyers: Packaging converters should keep grade, basis-weight and roll-width assumptions explicit in RFQs because packaging-paper availability and printing-paper softness are moving in different directions.
